Hi,
This seal is universal so we can't say if it will work on your 1953 Mercury Monterey convertible with certainty. However, it IS designed to be used as a rear quarter window leading edge seal so you are on the right track for sure! FYI - there are 2 options offered for universal rear quarter window leading edge seals so make sure you also check out part# 10-199V on our site.
